Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson and Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow first met on the set of Iron man 2, where Johansson’s MCU character Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow made her debut. Paltrow’s Pepper Potts was only making her second appearance in the Marvel sandbox, and over the years, a few rumors have surfaced that the two women didn’t get along on the film set, fueling a feud that lasted throughout their future. . avengers movies together.

Now that the pair have so much history behind them, they’re setting the record straight. In a recent chat on Paltrow’s “The Goop Podcast,” the actresses reminisced about their days together making Marvel movies. Paltrow began, saying:
“People ask me, ‘Is it true that you and Scarlett Johansson didn’t get along on ‘Iron Man’?”
Johansson replied:
“Is that a voice? You were so nice to me in that movie. I was so petrified. You have been so kind to me! You could have been awful. I was so out of my comfort zone in that movie. I’ve never done anything like this before. Also, you had established such deep friendships.
Paltrow told Johansson that the Iron man the cast were “so excited you were there,” adding, “I was so happy to have another woman around.”
Johansson then said:
“You kept telling me. Then I experienced it later. When I did ‘Avengers’ I was one of the few [women]…it was like a big sausage party.
Paltrow told Johansson she felt a similar feeling while making the first Iron Man film, as it was a large-scale production she’d never experienced at that point in her career.
“It was fun to be in something that resonated so deeply with people culturally. I had never been in that kind of successful franchise either. It was new to me. But then you went ahead and made all those great movies.
The two have also discussed whether their future includes new Marvel movies, though neither seem interested. Johansson’s Black Widow was killed in 2019 Avengers: Finalebut she’s back for a standalone prequel film, Black Widow.
“I’m done. The chapter is over. I’ve done everything I had to do. It’s just such a unique experience to come back and play a character again and again over the span of a decade.
When Johansson asked Paltrow if she was done with Marvel movies, Paltrow replied, “I think so. I mean, I’m not dead, so they can always ask me.
“I think you might come back at some point,” joked Johansson. “Truly?” Paltrow said. “A 64-year-old Pepper Potts? That’s cool.” Johansson added: “It’s 100% happening. I can see it. They’ll never let you go. Break that wig, baby.
It’s nice to know that these women were and are friends and have been able to reminisce together. Hollywood has always wanted to produce these ridiculous feuds between women, and now they have a louder voice to shut it all down.
Do you think Pepper Potts has more stories to tell in the MCU? I wouldn’t mind seeing her and Tony’s daughter Morgan in a story again.
