Russell Crowe considered walking away from Gladiator because he thought the first script was “absolute rubbish”.

Russell Crowe looks back on his time gladiator and revealed that he almost walked out of the Ridley Scott-directed film because he thought the script was “absolute bullshit”.

In conversation with cosmetic bagsaid Crowe gladiator was his film from the 1920s and when he started the project he was confident in his abilities as a lead actor.

“However, I was not sure gladiator was the world that surrounded me,” Crowe said in an interview. “The core of what we did was a great concept, but the script was rubbish, absolute rubbish. It had all these weird lines.

Crowe continued, “One of them was about chariots and how famous gladiators used certain types of chariots and some famous gladiators had deals with olive oil products and things like that, which is all true, but it’s just not going to go over well. ” a modern audience. They will say, “What is all this?” The energy around what we were doing was very broken.

The actor later won an Oscar for his role as Maximus Decimus Meridius, but said he was considering leaving the film.

“I thought maybe a few times, maybe my best option is to just get on a plane and get out of here,” he admitted.

What kept Crowe in the film was his “constant conversations with Ridley that gave me confidence.”

“He once said to me: ‘Man, we’re not going to put anything in front of the camera that you don’t believe in 100%.’ So when we actually started this film, we had 21 pages of script that we agreed on,” he explained. “A script is usually between 103 or four or 110 pages, something like that. and we actually used up those pages in the first part of the film, so by the time we got to our second location, Morocco, we’d caught up a bit.”

With a continuation of gladiator Crowe, due out in November 2024, recently said he was “a little jealous” of not being part of the film.

“I mean, look, all I really feel about it is a little jealous, you know?
