The Rise of the Evil Dead hit theaters last weekend and had a pretty successful opening weekend! It was a wonderfully terrifying blood-soaked film that I enjoyed, and at one point, Bruce Campbell he made a small cameo easy to miss.

While Campbell doesn’t actually appear in the film, I have seen his cameo and the director Lee Corin recently confirmed it and offered some interesting information about it. Campbell recorded a few lines of dialogue for a particular scene.
Minor spoilers ahead. In the film, the possessed mother’s teenage son finds the Book of the Dead and a collection of old vinyl record recordings from the 1920s. The recordings on these old discs include the spell that unleashes evil Deadite demons upon the family.
The recording also included a debate among a group of priests who were discussing the Necronomicon and whether or not they should dig and study it. Bruce Campbell is present at this meeting and is against the idea and howls his disapproval.
Discussing Campbell’s cameo in the film, the director of the film said: ‘Bruce came to Ireland while we were working on the sound and I asked him if he would do this very little cameo for me. And the fun part is that it’s not necessarily Bruce Campbell playing someone else, it could very well be Ash Williams.”
I actually thought it was Ash when I heard his voice, so I’m happy to see Corin confirming that it might be! It’s not too far-fetched to think that Ash could have found himself in the ’20s at some point, as this isn’t the first time he’s been pulled through time.
Did you see his cameo when you saw the movie?
