Joaquin Phoenix jokingly makes a public announcement for people who buy tickets to see him in his latest movie Beau is scared.
“I was told by someone in college that there is a student thread among friends, a challenge, that they take mushrooms and watch this movie,” shared Phoenix. fandango in an interview. “And I just wanted to make a public announcement and say don’t eat mushrooms and watch this damn movie.”
Phoenix then joked, saying, “But if you do, film yourself. But don’t do it!”
In the same interview that joker star recommended watching the film as he did at IMAX, adding, “I was absolutely squirming in my seat. First of all, I’m just laughing the whole movie. There are a few sequences where I’m just squirming — I mean, such things [Ari] done with the sound design, it was really great. It is such a rich world and there is so much detail to see in it. This is 100% a film you feel. There are so many rich, complex themes in this film, but it’s such a visceral experience to watch. Then you leave and when that feeling goes away, you start thinking about it.”
A24s Beau is scared revolves around “a paranoid man [who] begins an epic journey to return home to his mother.” The film stars Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Kylie Rogers, Denise Menochet, Parker Posey, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Richard Kind, Hayley Squires and Michael Gandolfini.
