Stanley Tucci received his first Oscar nomination as serial killer George Harvey The beautiful legs but it’s a role he never wants to play again.
“I won’t play George Harvey again in ‘The Lovely Bones,’ which was awful,” Tucci said entertainment tonight. “It’s a great film, but it was a difficult experience. Simply because of the role.”
Tucci said he asked director Peter Jackson why he based the supernatural thriller on Alice Sebold’s book.
“I was trying to get out of character, which is crazy because I needed a job,” he added. “But I was like, ‘Why do you want me?’ And he said, ‘Because you’re funny.’ And I thought, ‘Okay.’ But I understand what he said.”
He continued, “I think he meant I wouldn’t be — not that I wouldn’t take it seriously, just that I wouldn’t be too dramatic about it. That I would throw it away a little bit. That’s what you have to do when you play someone so horrible, right?
Although Tucci would not return The beautiful legsHe has other roles he would like to play again.
“I would like to play Nigel The Devil Wears Prada again. It was a really great experience,” he revealed. “I would play Paul Child again if we did it Juliet and Juliet. These are really great roles.”
