The sun is setting on the land of Valisthea. For centuries, people have flocked to her Mothercrystals to partake of their blessing, the abundant aether that fuels the magics they rely on in everyday life. But as the aether begins to fade and the lifeless deadlands expand ever more, the fight for the Mothers’ last flickers of light grows ever more fierce. A bloody battle rages across the realm, rival nations send their ultimate weapons against each other: the Dominants. Men and women in which the shocking power of an Eikon sleeps.
There are few in Valisthea whose lives have not been touched by this war for the blessing of the crystals, and Clive Rosfield, eldest son of the Archduke of Rosaria, is no exception. Unlike most, however, the twists and turns of fate will reveal to him the dark truth that lies at the heart of his world and lead him on a quest to destroy those very Mothercrystals that the rest of the realm holds sacred.
The legacy of the crystals has shaped the destiny of humanity for long enough.
We’ve learned a bit about what players will be doing at Clive’s base, the Hideout. Here you will be able to learn about the world of Valisthea from the historian Harpocrates. You can also speak to military scholar Vivian to view the relationship table for characters. If you access the Arete Stone in the hideout, you will be able to access a training mode that will help you hone your skills and practice various skill combinations. Also, Wanted Posters will allow you to hunt down powerful monsters for great rewards.
Additionally, the footage showcases more of Clive’s fighting skills, Eikon battles, and more to gush about. Finally, Square Enix announced that songwriter Kenshi Yonezu is performing the theme song for Final Fantasy XVI, “Tsuki Wo Miteita – Watching the Moon”. You can check out the song now in this teaser!
