Photos characterize Cynthia Erivo in the lead role of Elphaba and Ariana Grande in the co-starring role of Glinda.
In the distant, dimly lit photos, Erivo sports her character’s signature witch hat and broom, while a blonde Grande wears a striking pink dress as she climbs a ladder.
A prequel to The Wizard of Oz, Evil chronicles all that transpired before Dorothy walked down that iconic yellow brick road and tells the story of the unlikely friendship between Elphaba, later to become the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, known as the Good Witch. It also reveals how the Wicked Witch got that pointy hat.
The cast also includes Jonathan Bailey like Fiero, Jeff Goldblum like the magician, Michelle Yeoh such as Madame Morrible, e Ethan Slater like Boq.
Stephen Schwartz, who wrote the Broadway show’s music and lyrics, is adapting the screenplay with Winnie Holzman. Along with favorites like “Defying Gravity” and “Popular,” the two-part movie version is expected to feature at least two new songs.
The first Evil hits theaters November 27, 2024 with the second installment set to release December 25, 2025. Check out the photos below and let us know what you think.
