There’s an interesting thing about the last one Star Wars: Ahsoka trailer that not many fans seem to talk about. That thing is, two of history’s major villains wield orange, not red, lightsabers, which is what Sith warriors wield.

These lightsabers are wielded by Ray Stevensoncharacter of, Baylan Skoll, who is a former Jedi warrior. He survived Order 66 by fleeing to the Unknown Regions, and is believed to be an ally of Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen). The other character is Ivanna Sakhnothe character of Shin Hati, who is believed to be Baylan’s apprentice. Both wield the dark side of the Force and Shin is said to have a loose alliance with the Nightsisters, who are the Witches of Dathomir who have been explored in Star wars the battle of the clones. She is unleashed to bring Ahsoka down.

I’ve seen rumors and speculation suggesting that Stevenson’s character is Joruus C’Baoth, from Timothy Zahn’s “Heir to the Empire.” C’Baoth is a clone who was created by Palpatine and became the guardian of the Imperial warehouse at Mount Tantiss on Wayland. Grand Admiral Thrawn discovered the warehouse’s existence and traveled there to recruit the Dark Jedi to help destroy the New Republic.

I don’t think Baylan is C’Baoth in secret, but the character may have been inspired by him in some way. One thing is for sure, these characters are incredibly skilled with the lightsabers they wield and seem to have pinpoint accuracy, which is fascinating to me. Their fighting skills are definitely different and more defined, and I’m not even sure what that means!

Regardless, Dave Filoni recently addressed the orange lightsabers these villains wield, and when it was pointed out to him during an interview with Screen Rant, Filoni explained that the orange lightsabers were intentional and adds that nothing is accidental.

“I did [their lightsaber blades] a little more orange. It’s a really good eye. You are the first person to catch it. He was very intentional. I didn’t just make them a deep red. I remember as a kid Vader’s lightsaber swung from visual effects to being a little more orange. I didn’t mean to go orange, but it’s identifying a little something for kids who may not be who you think they are to begin with. It’s good that you took it. Nothing is random.”

He obviously won’t offer any details on what the orange lightsaber means or why their fighting style is more mechanically accurate, but there’s a reason behind all of that which will be revealed at some point! I have no doubt there is something to reveal about these characters, we’ll just have to wait and see what all the fuss is about! In the meantime, all we can do is speculate.

What do you think all this could mean!?
