Actor Tenoch Huerta, best known for his participation in the movie ‘Black Panther’ (Disney Plus), he recently apologized for the unfortunate messages issued by the Poder Prieto collectivewho collaborates with him. This group launched messages against Mexican cultural broadcaster Luz Valdez, who revealed that artisan Feliciana Hernández Bautista has never been consulted by a Mexican brand to alter one of her feathered shawls that Tenoch used as a cape at the week of the Milan fashion.
Tenoch Huerta admitted that Poder Prieto issued these messages without full knowledge of the case and that it was mismanagement on social networks. Furthermore, he acknowledged that he was unaware of what was happening due to his work, but that he could not ignore what happened and that it was wrong. Despite this, he stressed that the relationship he and the collective have with Feliciana Hernández, her family, Hijos del Maíz and other artists continues so that their art has its rightful place.
Luz Valdez, a content creator who focuses on promoting Mexican culture, especially traditional costumes and clothing, explained that the Michoacán artisan contacted her to help her report that the garment that caused such a stir with Tenoch it was edited without his consent and, moreover, his credit has not been given.
According to Valdez, Feliciana Hernández sold a shawl to a middleman without knowing it would make its way to the Hijos del Maíz brand, a store that offers products inspired by Mexican cultures and some made by artisans. Feliciana’s head was cut to create the famous feathered cape, but she was never consulted and she put the garment up for sale under the designer Diana Buendía’s name.

Tenoch Huerta issued a statement clarifying the situation
After the controversy, Both Hijos del Maíz and Poder Prieto came out to apologize to Feliciana Hernández. Poder Prieto stressed that although they are not responsible for this company, there is a bond between them and their group. Despite this, the group disqualified Luz Valdez for being an influencer and ensured that the craftsman never asked the young woman for help. For her part, Luz expressed her weariness at the disqualifications and false accusations she has received.
I’m tired of their disqualifications, their blackmail, the psychological violence they exercised on me and their false accusations,” Luz said in a video.

Tenoch he claimed that the Hijos del Maiz company made errors in the process and traceability, there were intermediaries and much of the information provided has not been verified firsthand. He also recognized that this situation of intermediaries and designers who do not give credit to craftsmen always repeats itself. Therefore, he urged that this be regulated.
Through a statement on his social networks, Tenoch underlined that thanks to Luz Valdez he was able to meet Feliciana Hernández, a very significant meeting for him and his team, for which they will keep it forever.
From the bottom of my heart I ask that we allow this disagreement to cloud the value of the work of all those involved who shape culture and identity,” Tenoch said in his statement.
Tenoch Huerta stressed that his relationship with Feliciana Hernández, her family, Hijos del Maíz and other artists is still valid and that they will work together to ensure that the art and creations of the artisans have the place they deserve.
