‘Cocaine Bear’ drops this month on Peacock

Elizabeth Banks Genre Comedy, cocaine bear, will debut on Universal’s streaming service Peacock on April 14, 50 days after its theatrical debut.

The film is based on a true situation from 1985 when a drug cartel’s lost stash of cocaine fell into the Georgia woods and ended up in a bear’s mouth. cocaine bear opened to $23.2 million and has so far scored a record $2.75 for a running total of $64 million on a B-CinemaScore. The picture was taken for $30 million and currently stands at $83 million. Keri Russell, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Christian Convery, Alden Ehrenreich, Brooklynn Prince, Isiah Whitlock Jr., along with Margo Martindale and the late Ray Liotta, star in the picture. As usual for college films opening under $50 million, they hit PVOD 17 days after their release, this film opens February 24-26.

Despite the box office revival, Universal will continue to support Peacock with day and date theatrical releases. It was recently announced that Blumhouse’s Five Nights at Freddy’s would hit the big screens simultaneously and Peacock on October 27. The picture is the long-awaited movie of the popular horror video game.
