President of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy made the announcement at the Star Wars celebration in London, and also revealed that Logan and Ford v. Ferrari I am the director James Mangold he would also direct a Star Wars movie, which is just as exciting!

In 2018, it was announced that James Mangold would direct a Boba Fett film, but that film never happened. So, this is the second time Mangold has been attached to a Star Wars film project, hopefully this one actually works for him! Mangold recently worked with Lucasfilm on Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate, which looks great!

The directors will direct two separate films in the series. Mangold’s is said to date back to the early days of the Jedi, while Filoni’s project will focus on the New Republic, and “close” the interconnected stories being told in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and other Disney+ shows.

Mangold previously teased that all of this would lead to a “big event,” so it has to be! Previously he said:

“Well, in a way, it could. It could become a climax thing and The Mandalorian could still continue. It’s not necessarily an alternative choice, is it? It’s an interesting way to think about it. I tend to think, since we worked on The Mandalorian and then Ahsoka wrote, and then Jon Watts came along with Skeleton Crew, there’s a whole period of time that is post-Return of the Jedi, which before The Force Awakens, is about 30 years. When you look at the original trilogy , it’s a much less significant period of time that those three movies take place in. And so, what I like is that we’re really very slowly building an ecosystem of characters and politics and events in the post-Return of the Jedi period. whether or not to expand more broadly as we add more shows and characters.”

He also went on to tease a big event, saying:

“I think the reality of a major event in this time period is very real, is all I would say. But yeah, if Jon wanted to keep making a fuss about the Mandalorian, as long as he isn’t pushed back into that titanic event, then, I suppose, they could continue. There seems to be no lack of interest in Grogu and Mando, that’s for sure.”

It’s all so exciting! All of these great Star Wars the shows are driving this big event movie and who knows, maybe it won’t just be a movie! What do you think of all this!?
