While Sam Wilson is a capable and exciting new Cap, it’s bittersweet moving forward in a Captain America movie that will be the first without Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. There have been rumors that he’ll appear, but those have no merit at this point, and Evans seems pretty sure that’s not true…even if that’s what he’d like us to think.

In a recent interview during last weekend’s C2E2 event in Chicago, Evans was naturally asked if/when he will return to the role, and if he wants to, and he replied:

“It’s hard, because look, I love that role deeply. He means so much to me, and I really love him. I think there are more Steve Rogers stories to tell, sure. But at the same time, I’m very, very valuable with it.” I was going to become, you know, it’s like this shiny little thing that I have that I love so much, and I just don’t want to spoil in any way, and I was part of something that was so special for the special time period and in a way, it’s really came through that well. He continued, ‘As much as I connect to that role and love to tell those stories and work with those people. It just doesn’t feel right right now.”

When asked why he keeps making comic book movies, Evans explained:

“It wasn’t a plan. I wasn’t like ‘comic books!’ … But the more you do those movies, the more research you do before the movie, the more you realize that you become a fan, you know, and you start imagining and these great characters and great stories and there’s a starting point to, you know, the movies… There’s all these creative people coming together, trying to operate on the same intangible idea. we all have a common ground to say ‘we have that We all know how we felt when we read it, when we saw it. And that’s the starting point. incredible built-in fan base.”

I’d love to see Evans back in the MCU as Steve Rogers somehow! And you?
