A gripping trailer has been released for a truly original and fascinating documentary titled Sam now. The film follows two brothers, one behind the camera, Reed, who follows his half-brother Sam from childhood to adulthood when he comes of age and goes in search of his mother, who disappeared from her life when she was a child.

Director Reed Harkness premiered the documentary at several film festivals and is preparing for its theatrical and national TV release.
The synopsis reads:
“Sam Harkness and his Seattle family are shocked and heartbroken when his mother suddenly disappears. Tracking down cryptic clues to her whereabouts years later, Sam and his half-brother set out on a road trip to the West Coast to try and find her. But solving the mystery of her disappearance is only the beginning of their story. Through Sam’s 25 years of searching for answers, the film explores intergenerational trauma and the turning points of family dysfunction and healing.
It sounds like an incredibly emotional and compelling story. I can’t wait to watch it, not only to solve the mystery, but also to observe the bond between these brothers. Check out the trailer and poster below and see Sam now in theaters beginning April 6 at Laemmle Glendale in Los Angeles and April 7 at Village East Cinemas in New York (the directing team will be in attendance for opening weekends in Los Angeles and New York). A nationwide expansion will follow in the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, Portland and other select markets. The film will launch its national television broadcast as part of the PBS Independent Lens series on May 8.
