Keanu Reeves remembers ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ co-star Lance Reddick at film premiere: ‘It’s too bad he’s not here’

Lance Reddick died on March 17, days before the premiere of John Wick: Chapter 4 where the actor reprises his role of Charon. At the red carpet event for the film, Keanu Reeves recalled his co-star and highlighted his qualities.

“Lance was a beautiful person, [a] special artist, a man of grace and dignity and such a passion for his art,” Reeves said meeting. “And to have the chance to work with him for more than 10 years and four films is very special to me and it’s bad that he’s not here.”

Director Chad Stahelski also remembered Reddick’s narration meeting“When you let someone pass that close, it’s always difficult. He was a big man, a big man [and] We are all very lucky to have been able to work with him for the last 10 years of our lives. He was a mentor, a friend, a wonderful person and I think the best way to remember and celebrate him is to never forget how much he touched us.”

At the theater where the screening was to take place, Joe Drake, chairman of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, dedicated the film to Reddick. The audience thanked the late actor with a standing ovation in his honor.

Reddick was part of the John Wick franchise since the premiere of the first film in 2014. Reddick’s character Charon played the caretaker at the Continental Hotel in New York and had extensive screen time with Reeves. The acting couple until recently did the press for the fourth installment in the franchise, which opens on March 24. Reddick also voiced Charon in the John Wick Hex video game.
