Keanu Reeves says DC Studios is trying to figure out CONSTANTINE 2, but hopes it will happen

Fans were so excited to learn about it Keanu Reeves was going to reprise his role as John Constantine in a Constantine Continuation! Hell, Reeves was thrilled! He’s been trying to make this sequel for years!

He previously said, “I don’t know if it was an unfinished business, but it was definitely a role that I loved. And I thought Francis Lawrence, the director, did such an amazing job. I loved playing that character and really enjoyed the movie I was like, [in a Oliver Twist voice] “Can I have some more?” I kept asking almost every year. I’d be like, ‘Can I please?’ and they were like, ‘No, no!'”

Then finally they said yes! Now, that exciting yes has turned into an uncertain maybe. It’s so sad! Not long ago Reeves offered an update, saying, “I was hoping it would, but we don’t know. Yes, we are trying.

Now, in a recent interview with Looper, Reeves confirmed that James Gunn and Peter Safran are apparently trying to figure everything out and how will it fit into their plan, I guess?

Reeves said, “I think they’re trying to figure out what to do with it. I hope I can reprise the role of John Constantine, but that remains to be seen. Yes. But I hope so. I hope so.”

Fans hope so too! This sequel has to happen! When previously speaking of his excitement about the film, Reeves said, “So it’s exciting. It’s almost like an outdoor playground where we can hopefully cook something up and play, and I imagine going outside the playground and packing a meal. But I can’t wait and hopefully it can happen. You don’t know how these things go. But I will definitely do my best to try and make that dream come true.”

Francis Lawrence will return to direct the film with Akiva Goldman set to produce and write the screenplay. Who knows what Gunn and Safran will decide to do with it, but hopefully they make the right decision.
