While traditional Irish music is entirely appropriate for St. Patrick’s Day, sometimes you want to hear something that will make you jump like crazy. Luckily, Ireland has a rich history of punk and rock bands, and in here hollywood life We’ve compiled a playlist below for you to enjoy. While this list isn’t comprehensive, there are plenty of bands to play with while having a pint of your favorite Irish red ale safe at home until we get the green light to go back to the pubs.

The playlists above are filled with oldies, but the Irish punk/rock scene is alive and thriving. When it comes to Irish punk, some veterans immediately think of a handful of bands: one, stiff little fingers, formed in 1977 during the first wave of punk. The group still performs and records, despite the lead singer and guitarist Jake burns he is the only remaining original member. If you want to check them, try rotating them nobody’s heroes. It’s one of the best albums of all time and perfect for listening to some Bushmills with your friends over Zoom.

the pinches (aka The Nipple Erectors) are also from that early punk rock era, and the band (led by the fierce Shanne Bradley) is marked as by Shane McGowan first group. would form The Pogos in London (although technically they are still considered an Irish band). You are still playing as part of Shane MacGowan and the Popes.

Shane and the Pogues are credited with creating a new musical subgenre: Celtic punk. This song was popularized in the United States by groups such as kick kick Murphy, spanking molly, and more. Yep, the Dropkicks aren’t technically an Irish punk band (not surprising, considering how much the group represents Boston). Because it states “Dropkick Murphys chained in the basement until next St. Patrick’s Day.” the hard timesa satirical punk publication (think Onion known The decline of Western civilization). However, Dropkick Murphy’s 2022 version of “We Shall Overcome” was made for real and… much better to listen to “Barroom Hero” instead.

While skinny lizard is a staple of most classic rock stations, you can’t go wrong throwing “Jailbreak” or “The Boys Are Back In Town” into the mix. If you fancy something more modern, this is it Boomtown Mice. The group, led by Bob Geldoff, delved into all kinds of genres (ska, new wave and punk) before disbanding in 1986. There’s Always Dublin’s chewing aluminum foil for a more modern and fast ska-punk. There are many other Irish punk bands, from political punk to distorted vision to the original celtic rockers, the pitchers – So take a look. Add them to your rotation and remember: she wears a mask, get vaccinated, and don’t take your drink to the mosh pit.
