Another big casting announcement has been made Ridley Scott’S Gladiator followed as Denzel Washington joined the cast! Washington and Scott previously worked together on the 2007 crime drama American gangster.
Washington joins the former cast Paul Mescal like Lucio e Barry Keoghan as Emperor Geta. There is no information on who will play Washington in the film.
Deadline explains how Washington’s casting came about. Once Mescal was locked down for the project, the producers “pushed hard for a star for the film’s other major role and toured with Washington.”
They just weren’t sure if he’d actually join the film, but after they pitched him and he had his meeting with Scott, sources close to the project said he “was excited about the villain role” and he jumped on board!
It will be interesting to find out who plays Washington in the film.
