JOHN WICK Director Chad Stahelski says Oscar category for best stunt is a ‘no-brainer’

John Wick franchise manager Chad Stahelski began his career in the world of film stunts in films such as The matrix, and eventually transitioned into directing, making some of the baddest action movies ever! As you can imagine, the stunt profession is very important to the filmmaker, and like the rest of us movie buffs, he would love to see a category for best stunt added to the Oscars!

During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the director talked about the stunt category as a no-brainer and explained:

“Is there one for every other department but ours? It’s a no-brainer for me. Really, there are wives and rumors and myths about why there isn’t a category, that the Academy was mad at someone about something As far as I know, it’s all bullshit. We want to be recognized because we’re one of the 11 main departments. We’re in every fucking trailer. Most movies are sold for what we do.

The film stunt profession absolutely needs to be recognised, and it’s absolutely ridiculous that it isn’t! Everyone else in the industry is recognized for their work, but not the people who put their lives on the line to get the awesome action packed stunts!

It would be great if they did, but let’s be honest, Tom Cruise could win every year.

While we’re on the subject of stunts, John Wick: Chapter 4features some of the best and most impressive fighting sequences and stunts you have ever seen!

Speaking earlier about the action in the upcoming film, Reeves said: “John Wick: Chapter 4 it has more action than any other [John Wick] movie, which says a lot. And that’s more than a good margin. It’s a great show… John Wick: Chapter 4 it was the hardest physical role I’ve ever had in my career so far. They really trained me to be able to have what we call the toolbox.
