Adam DriverThe prehistoric science fiction film 65 it didn’t get the best reviews and it’s not doing very well at the box office, which is a shame. The movie is really very funny! I honestly don’t know what people expected from this movie, but that’s exactly what the trailer makes it sound like!

In the film, after a catastrophic crash on Earth 65 million years ago, a spaceship pilot named Mills and another survivor named Koa (Ariana Greenblatt) must fight their way through unfamiliar terrain battling dangerous prehistoric dinosaurs along the way. That’s the movie, and the movie does a great job of telling that story!
During a recent interview with Collider, Driver was asked what inspired him to jump on board this film project and his answer was simple… dinosaurs and laser guns! He said:
Well it was so unique and it was a great blend of many different things. It was dinosaurs and laser guns and crashing spaceships, and it didn’t seem somehow uncommon to be asked to do that, but even that’s a bit incidental to the fact that this is a film that’s really kind of a parent film- Daughter. Whenever there’s a big-scale movie, a big-scale family movie that everyone can go to that doesn’t let the show get in the way of two hopefully three-dimensional characters, and it was about grief. I took it in the first push of COVID, and as I’m sure a lot of people did, they were obviously making the connections of what was happening in the world.
But the idea that it was two people with completely different backgrounds facing this obvious threat that no one had a record of, and through that they become a family founded on this common thing of grief. And he denies it because everything he sees in her reminds him of her daughter, and he’s denying that feeling as much as he can until they can’t anymore. It seems like a unique thing to do in a large-scale film like this.
After bringing up the fact that he can fight dinosaurs, Driver laughed and said, “Yeah, yeah. After the T. rex, I didn’t really care. I was like, ‘Who do you want me to play? Sure, it’s interesting, as long as he can fight a T. rex and shoot a laser gun.’”
65 was directed by A quiet place writers, ScottBeck AND Bryan Woodsfrom an original screenplay they wrote. Sam Raimi he also produced the film.
If you haven’t seen the movie yet, it’s a fun popcorn movie worth watching on the big screen!
