Brendan Hunt on the end of ‘Ted Lasso’: ‘At least we’re taking a break’

‘Ted Lasso’ has been one of the most successful and acclaimed series of recent times. The well-meaning, tender comedy on Apple TV+ is about to premiere its third season on the platform. In it you have to pick up all the unsolved storylines in the previous installment. One of the most important is that of Nate, the former assistant of the protagonist. Swallowed by his inordinate ego and tired of being in the background, the character betrayed AFC Richmond and went to rival team West Ham United to be the first manager.

“Every villain has an origin story, and Nate is no exception”explains its actor, Nick Mohammed, in an interview with eCartelera. “Many of their behaviors stem from their deepest insecurities”adds the interpreter. “It has to depend on the public whether or not they can be forgiven. We can’t erase history, they did what they did”manifest.

The new way of being of the now antagonist is also transferred to the screen in his physical appearance, which coincidentally bears clear similarities with José Mourinho, the current coach of Roma and one of the most controversial names in football in recent decades. “I think it’s a little bit because of the hair, because of that color change. He’s quite the character when it comes to football coaches and the like. Though I think that’s where the similarities between him and Nate end.”suggests Mohammed, who doesn’t dare make a more precise comparison with the real world.

The third season of ‘Ted Lasso’ will, in principle, be the last of the series. Even so, there are rumors that Apple TV+ could save it in the future or start developing spinoffs. “We don’t know, we don’t know yet”says Brendan Hunt, series co-creator and actor who brings Coach Beard to life. “At least we’ll take a break because it’s been a life full of ‘Ted Lasso’ for the last 4 years”says Hunt. “I am very aware that I will never do something like this again in my life, so I try to enjoy every second while I can”phrase.

‘Ted Lasso’ Season 3 Debuts on Apple TV+ on March 15.
