Sam Raimi Thinks There’s Still Room For EVIL DEAD IV And “All Kinds Of EVIL DEAD Movies”

While we look forward to the release of The Rise of the Evil Dead, Sam Raimi he’s talking about the franchise and how there’s room for all kinds of evil Dead film projects and hopes to direct again as a way to support his longtime fans and partners Bruce Campbell and Rob Tapert.

As you know, Bruce Campbell has been pretty adamant about his decision not to return to play Ash Williams in the evil Dead franchise outside of the character’s voice in video games and a possible animated series. After Ash Vs Evil Deadhe was done.

Before that series happened though, there was a lot of discussion about making a Evil Dead IVwhich was supposed to combine Ash’s story with Mia’s story from the 2013 reboot. Raimi believes the film is still possible alongside all kinds of other evil Dead movie! During a recent interview with Empire, Raimi explained:

“That character, Mia, was great, so I was very interested. We had talked about an “Evil Dead IV” for the other branch of that universe, and were a little worried about a collision. Ash Vs Evil Dead is what he has turned into. But I always thought there was room for both. I still think there’s room for all kinds of Evil Dead movies. I don’t think they cancel each other out.

Raimi then went on to talk about directing something that reunites him with Campbell and Tapert, who have been involved with the evil Dead franchise from the start:

“I love working with Bruce and Rob. I like them as a producer because they are great partners, but I also like being supported by them as a director. So hopefully it’s in the cards eventually.

I hope it’s in the cards eventually too! Wouldn’t it be great if we actually had another one evil Dead film with Raimi directed by Campbell!? I think there’s a great way to do this that wouldn’t involve Campbell having to be so physically active. Self The Rise of the Evil Dead is a box office hit, there’s a good chance the franchise will live on the way Raimi hopes it will.
