About 40 years ago, both actors worked together on “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.” When the film was released in 1984, Ford was about to turn 42 and Quan, who played Little Plug, was only 12. The Academy Award winner has spoken fondly on more than one occasion about his time on set with Ford, statements that are reflected in the big hug in which the actors melted when the industry veteran announces that the Best Picture statuette goes to “All at Once Everywhere”:

When the nominees for best supporting actor at the 2023 Oscars were revealed, Ford already explained that he was very happy with Ke Huy Quan’s nomination: “I’m very happy for him. He’s a good boy. He’s a wonderful actor, he was when he was little and he still is. I’m happy, I’m very happy for him.” But the support pre-dates the nomination, before meeting with the nominees, the actor said if the Academy nominated Quan it was “well deserved”words that accompanied praising his performance in ‘Todo a la vez’: “He’s amazing in his film. And I’m so happy to see him…and what he’s become. I am very happy for him. He’s also a very cheerful boy.”

The hug is very special for the time and place where it happened, in the most important category of the film industry’s most prestigious awards ceremony, but The first meeting between the two actors was in September 2022 at D23, a Disney event. Both went on to promote their upcoming releases with the Ford studio ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate’ and Quan the second season of ‘Loki’, a Marvel Studios series for which he is signed on. The latter has already said how much was nervous to see Ford again after 38 years: “As I approach, he turns and points his finger at me. He’s got that classic, famous, grumpy Harrison Ford look. I’m like, ‘My God, he probably thinks I’m a fan and is going to tell me to stay away from him.’ he he’. But he looks at me, points at me and says: “Are you Stopper?” Instantly, I was transported to 1984, when he was a kid, and said, “Yeah, Indy.” And he says, ‘Come here’ and he gave me a big hug.”

Winning reunion with Brendan Fraser

Although they have already coincided in previous Oscar awards, Brendan Fraser and Ke Huy Quan are back to pose together, but this time in the role of two Oscar winners, Fraser for Best Actor for ‘The Whale’.
