‘Shazam! Wrath of the Gods: Filtered a surprise cameo from a DC character

Contains spoilers

‘Shazam! The Fury of the Gods’ opens in the US and Spain on March 17 and the promotional campaign to get people to theaters is in full swing, perhaps too much. During one of WWE’s commercial breaks this Friday, a new commercial for the film aired which included a startling spoiler: Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman cameo.

Rumors about this possible appearance have been floating around the internet for months, but with all the hype happening at DC, there has been speculation that, as happened in the first installment, the character would be embodied by a look-alike. And no, it’s Gadot in her full suit in all her glory. The scene in question shows us a Diana Prince congratulating Billy Batson/Shazam! (Zachary Levi) for a job well done. You can see it in the tweet above, where a user recorded the announcement from her home, since neither Warner Bros. nor DC have posted it (at least for now) on any of their profiles.

‘Shazam! Wrath of the Gods: Filtered a surprise cameo from a DC character

‘Shazam! Wrath of the Gods continues the story of teenager Billy Batson, whom on this occasion he faces together with his foster brothers against the daughters of Atlas, who believe they have stolen their father’s powers and now want to destroy the world.

Directed by David F. Sandberg, the film stars Zachary Levi and Asher Angel, Jack Grazer and Adam Brody, Rachel Zegler, Ross Butler and Ian Chen, Meagan Good and Darla Dudley, Lucy Liu, Helen Mirren and Grace Caroline Currey. We will also see Rizwan Manji, Djimon Hounsou and of course Gadot.

The manager’s reaction

Sandberg, director of the film, took to Twitter to warn his followers that if they want to go to the cinema without spoilers, they better avoid any commercials or trailers they may see on TV or on the internet.

“Well, there are some big Shazam spoilers out there. If you want to get there without surprises, maybe you’re not on the internet or watching TV with commercials… It’s actually good advice in general.” Of course, the promotional strategy itself is not so badly thought out, because some responses to that Tweet mean that, although the revelation took them by surprise, they only increased their desire to go to the cinema on March 17th.

Also, this year might not be the last we see Gadot as her superheroine, because if they haven’t been permanently axed, It seems Wonder Woman would also have a brief appearance in ‘The Flash’, FINALLY hits theaters on June 16th.
