With a great season of Yellow Jackets already released and a second season coming later this month, now we know how many total seasons we can expect from this show. Co-creator Ahsley Lyle recently revealed in an interview with EW that they have a plan for five seasons and are on track to deliver the full story they wanted to tell.

When they talked about the full plan they originally presented, they explained why they feel five seasons is the right stopping point. Lyle shared:
“The original plan was about five seasons, and we feel like we’re still on track for that. There’s always room for stuff. We don’t really see it as a five-season show. I think there are shows that can run all the time.” It’s infinite, but I think when you tell a story that’s that deeply serialized and it’s about the lives of these characters, you want to reach a satisfying conclusion and not just drag things out forever. Those settings show where it can go anywhere. So far, we’ve been really on the good side. Road Season 2 is largely what we always planned, but you make a lot of discoveries along the way and so it’s always a little surprising.
Co-creator Bart Nickerson goes on to talk about how the process of crafting the story and journey of these characters works and how nothing is set in stone. They’re just going with the flow of what feels right as they develop the series.
“In terms of some of the major places where we wanted to land or move the story, that’s happening, but a lot of the dynamics and what that means for the characters are different than I necessarily thought they would be. There are still major signs, they’re just happening in different ways, which I feel is perfect for keeping the experience alive and vital on our side. We get a lot of excitement from the discovery side. It’s an important part of our process and what we enjoy most about doing it. We feel that the architecture we started with is still holding up, but all the rooms are coming across as quite different in this exciting way.”
The creators continued to use the characters of Jeff (Warren Cole) and Callie (Sarah Desjardins) as an example, and that of Shauna (Melanie Lynsky) husband and daughter, who will have a bigger role in season 2 because “they were so good in season 1.”
Yellow Jackets is the saga of “a team of incredibly talented high school soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also charting the lives they attempted to rebuild nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really the past and what began in the desert is long gone. from the beginning”.
A great mystery is being built with this series and it is a show that easily captures you and drags you into madness. If you haven’t started watching it yet, this is one you need to dive into. If you don’t want to take my word for it, the show has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The series is also starring Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Ella Purnell, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Sammi Hanratty, Steven Krueger, Warren KoleAND Juliet Lewis. Newcomers include Elijah WoodAS Walter “a new citizen detective”, Lauren Ambrose like the adult version of Van, whose photos you can see here, and Simone Kesselwho will play an adult Lottie. Jason Ritter he too joined the cast.
Yellow jackets season 2 will premiere on March 24, 2023.
