In February, a new Mexican series starring Maite Perroni arrived on Netflix. Is called ‘Triad’ and since its first weekend it has been a resounding success on the streaming platform thanks to its exciting story inspired by true events, which you can learn about in the documentary ‘Three identical strangers’.

Currently the documentary “Three Identical Strangers” is available on Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video and Claro Video, available for purchase or rental. This story was one that the creator of ‘Dark Desire’ saw some time ago and decided to do a mystery and suspense series inspired by the lives of the experiment’s triplets.

If you have already seen the ‘Triad’ series then you know that it is not a clone theme like in the ‘Orphan Black’ series but that the three main protagonists are actually identical sisters who were separated at birth, but not by accident but as part of an experiment and the plot develops around their meeting after years of separation.

Something like this happened Bobby, Eddy and David before turning 20, when the coincidences of life led them to meet in person and discover that the three were adopted and shared the same birthday, as well as the same face. A case that years ago became fashionable in the news and brought together other brothers separated at birth again, just as happened with the triplets and as happens with Tamara, Aleida and Becca in ‘Triad’.

The curious thing is that these three brothers separated at birthlike the protagonists of “Triad,” they were also part of a scientific experiment that began in 1960 thanks to a psychiatrist determined to study the human behavior of identical siblings raised in different environments, to compare the strength of genetics with social parenting behaviors.

The “Triad” experiment was real and much scarier

In the Netflix series ‘Triad’ it is clear that the villain of the story was tasked with studying Becca, Tamara and Aleida as part of a multi-year experiment, however in real life the test subjects weren’t just the Three Identical Strangers, the studio separated several triplets and twin brothers, of whom there is no record to know if they could already be found.

Currently the triplets that inspired the ‘Triad’ series are 61 years old but only two of them are still alive, as the other had a strong episode of depression years after learning of the experiment and in 1995 he took off life, parting forever with his two brothers, protagonists of the critically acclaimed documentary.
