In an interview on the Armchair Expert podcast, Ortega discussed several aspects of “Miércoles”, including, the script, which is not entirely to his liking. He explains that, when he signed on to the series, before receiving all the scripts, he thought the tone of the project would be darker, to the point that when he saw where “Wednesday” was actually headed he had to intervene so that the project didn’t end up being something typical and cloying. According to the actress, many of the things her character does in the series are not fully believed: “I don’t think I’ve ever had to be down to earth on a set like I had to on ‘Wednesday.’ Everything he does, everything I had to exhibit, It doesn’t make any sense to the character. Being in a love triangle makes no sense. There was a line about a dress she had to wear to prom and on Wednesday she was like, ‘Oh my god, I love it… this sucks I can’t believe I said that, I literally hate myself.’ And I had to say no.”

Ortega reveals that he even improvised on the filming set to capture his vision of “Wednesday” on screen: “There were moments on set where I almost became unprofessional in a way, where I just started to switch lines. The script supervisor thought there was something wrong with me, so I’d sit down with the writers and they’d be like, “What happened to this scene?” and I explained to them that I couldn’t do some things”.

Although Ortega believes that part of his dissatisfaction with the series stems from suffering from imposter syndrome (a psychological phenomenon in which a person believes they are not intelligent, capable, or creative, despite the fact that evidence indicates they are skilled), he presents a great performance and is successful), the actress reveals You have not seen the final result of “Wednesday” which airs on Netflix. It’s not an isolated case, he admits “I can’t see your work”but with ‘Wednesday’ the recording satisfaction was less: “[Sobre otros proyectos] I can come home after shooting and say, “I think the scene we shot today is good.” There wasn’t a single scene in ‘Wednesday’ where I’d come home and be like, ‘Okay, I think that’s cool.'”

run away from fame

Between the fact that ‘Scream VI’ will premiere on March 10th and, therefore, the respective events he has to attend, his role in ‘X’ and most importantly his portrayal of Wednesday Addams in the Netflix series, Ortega is in the greatest moment of fame of his career. A situation that the actress does not like: “If I really want to make movies and I want to play characters or I want to direct and score, I can do it all in my backyard. I don’t have to do it on a big scale like now. But in THE END, all the other minor aspects that my job entails sometimes make it seem almost worthless. I don’t want to feel like a walking billboard, which is a really scary feeling because then you feel like you have less and less control over your life. I feel like I’ve seen a lot of people or know people who have caved in to that pressure. I don’t want to belong to anything or anyone.”

Faced with such a situation that Ortega doesn’t like, the actress explained that she will detach herself from the hurricane of fame for a while: “There is one month of this year that I want to take off. I have made it very clear that I will be taking this month off. I’m going to travel, I just bought a flip phone, I’m going to hide for a while. I have to balance my schedule to make sure this month stays free. There’s a stressful part of that because I’m like, ‘My God, can I tell this director I don’t want to work these two weeks? Candies?’ I don’t know, but I make the rules too”.
