Days before the ceremony, on March 9, a private dinner is organized among all the people nominated for the 2023 Oscars. Although Curtis was invited thanks to the first nomination of her career, she declined to attend the dinner. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, Curtis shared the curious reason: “Why? Because mom will go to bed early. Because 7.30pm will be 9pm before eating and you know what? Nothing good happens to me after nine. Nothing. Zero!” In the US they have an earlier dinner and bedtime schedule than in Spain, so considering that the event is a special occasion and will last until midnight, it’s too late for Curtis.

The 64-year-old actress, an advocate for daytime entertainment, also used her interview to encourage bands to play concerts in the morning: “I’ll say this both as a joke and as a suggestion: U2, have a morning session. Coldplay, organize a matinee. How about a concert at 12, Coldplay? What do you think? Springsteen, have a fucking morning concert! You are old! Why don’t you let me come and see you, Bruce, on your glory days, noon or one? At two p.m! One morning at two in the afternoon! I’ll listen to your five-hour concert, Bruce, at two in the afternoon, and… then I’ll be home and in bed around 7:30″.
