Hilary Duff it will always be Lizzie McGuireprotagonist of the Disney Chanel series of the early 2000s, that golden era, or rather light. Now Duff is Sophie in “How I Met Your Father”, a thirty-year-old dissatisfied with her love situation. Despite this, Duff hasn’t stopped being entirely starring in ‘Lizzie McGuire’. Furthermore, it seems that her character could be the evolution of the icon of the 2000s.

This is demonstrated by the clip promoting the next episode of the second season of the ‘How I Met Your Mother’ spin-off, which has not yet arrived in Spain but launches an episode in the United States every Tuesday. In the video that Duff shared on social networks, we see Sophie telling her friends about her worst Valentine’s Day experience. She begins to narrate: “When I was 13…” and immediately after we see as a flashback an unforgettable scene of ‘Lizzie McGuire clutching her red landline, talking to her first boyfriend. “No, you hang up first. I won’t hang up first! It’s your turn to hang up first. You first!”. We see no more as Sophie is interrupted by her friend Ellen. “Don’t miss this week’s episode”wrote the actress.

An easy whim to make
It was screenwriter Amy-Jo Perry who came up with the idea to save the scene from the original series, an idea that has caught on all over the world, including the protagonist. Showrunner Elizabeth Berger shares how the actress reacted when they wrote her to get her approval: “[Hilary Duff] She’s the best, everything is fine with her if she thinks it’s funny. It took him ten seconds to say, ‘Yeah, of course we have to do this'”.
Finding the scene was just as easy: “We just searched and found the clip that made sense for the episode”. It is again “everyone agreed”. Luckily they didn’t have to fight for the rights: they are free to use the material since the two series belong to Walt Disney Television. “Everything is part of the same corporate umbrella”says the other showrunner, Isaac Aptaker. “That makes everything very, very smooth”.
Despite the fact that many series have had their own reboot, Disney+ canceled ‘Lizzie McGuire’ in 2020but the showrunners are hoping this will serve as a consolation prize for fans. “We can give people a little taste of what they didn’t get with that reboot.”Berger continued.
