The arrival of the new DC Studios directive has divided some opinions among the followers of the company. There are those who love all the changes James Gunn and Peter Safran are proposing and those who hate the cancellations they’ve made. Now, a new report suggests that an animated ‘Batman Beyond’ movie that was secretly being developed has been cancelled.
According to information from The Hot Mic, host Jeff Sneider has claimed that Walter Hamada, the former president of DC Films, has ordered the development of a film animated film by ‘Batman Beyond’, which would be a direct response to Sony’s acclaimed ‘Spiderman: Into the Spideverse’. The tape would be set in the universe of the series that aired between 1999 and 2001.
But, while Sneider hints at the possibility of continuing with the project, he says that is very likely to be the case James Gunn, would have ordered the cancellation of ‘Batman Beyond’: “The following project was commissioned by Walter Hamada. To my knowledge, it has never been reported. As of right now, the project is in development in DC now. These guys could be called up next week or something. This is the blueprint that I’ve heard of that has never been reported, and there are several drafts of it.”
presumably, Daniele Caseiwriter of “Fast and Furious 9″, would be the screenwriter of the animated film ‘Batman Beyond’,” but the trick is, it wouldn’t be live-action, because that’s what I was into. [trabajando] Christina Hodson. [Era un] Batman Beyond animated, to be DC’s answer to Into the Spider-Verse.” Jeff Sneider concluded on his podcast.

‘Batman Beyond’ in the style of ‘Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse’
Back in 2019, Geeks WorldWide leaked some images of an alleged concept art by Terry McGinnis on Reddit, in a style very similar to that of Miles Morales in ‘Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse’. Which would confirm Sneider’s words about the “Batman Beyond” project. It’s worth mentioning that this wouldn’t be the same as it was known until recently, with Michael Keaton as Batman.
Christina Hodson would be the writer of the live-action adaptation of ‘Batman Beyond’, and who handled the stories of ‘Bumblebee’ and ‘Birds of Prey and the fantastic Emancipation of Harley Quinn’. However, there’s no word on whether this project will ever hit HBO Max or movie screens.
In any case, James Gunn would not have announced it as part of the plans for the new DC Universe, which seems to suggest that it does not fit into the director’s ideas for the future of DC. Although there is always the possibility that he is part of the second chapter of the company, whose titles are still unknown.
