That first film starred Ryan Reynolds, Ken Watanabe, Justice Smith AND Kathryn Newton, and I’m guessing some of the cast will be returning to reprise their roles in the sequel, but casting is yet to be confirmed. According to the report, “Reynolds will have a role to play in the upcoming sequel.”

The first film centers on the character of Smith, whose father is kidnapped. He teams up with Pikachu (Reynolds) to help find it. Newton played a reporter who helps them with their research, and Ken Watanabe played a new character created for the film called Detective Yoshida.

The sequel script was written by Chris Galletta (The kings of summer), but we don’t currently know what the story will entail. However, we all know it will take fans on another fun Pokemon mystery adventure.
