Sony has just dated the biblical time feature of Jeymes Samuel Clarence’s book before September 22 this year.
Inspired by classic Hollywood epics from biblical times, Legendary’s Clarence’s book tells the story of Clarence (LaKeith Stanfield), a hapless Jerusalemite who makes a misguided attempt to capitalize on the rise to fame and influence of the Messiah for personal gain. It is a journey that takes him on an exploration of the idea of faith and on an unexpected path of his own. We hear that the film is not based on beliefs.
Sony had a nice mature title last September the king of women which worked, starting at $19 million and ending at $67 million/Canada and $92.4 million.
Alongside Stanfield, the film stars Omar Sy, RJ Cyler, Benedict Cumberbatch, James McAvoy, Anna Diop, Teyana Taylor, David Oyelowo, Alfre Woodard and Marianne Jean-Baptiste. The cast also includes Caleb McLaughlin, Babs Olusanmokun, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Nicholas Pinnock, Michael Ward, Chase Dillon, Tom Glynn-Carney and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor.
Clarence’s book is directed, written, produced and composed by The harder they fall BAFTA winner Samuel. He is also producing the film with James Lassiter, Tendo Nagenda and Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter. Garrett Grant serves as executive producer.
Lionsgate’s is already dated September 22nd consumables 4, a self-titled DC release by Warner Bros and Searchlight’s Taika Waititi The next goal wins.
