Lionsgate has released the trailer for the upcoming slasher horror comedy The blackening, which offers a comedic commentary on the horror genre through an all-black perspective. The film “skewers genre tropes and asks the sardonic question: If the entire cast of a horror film is black, who dies first?”

The film centers on “a group of black friends who gather for a Juneteenth weekend getaway only to find themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a twisted killer. Forced to follow his rules, the friends quickly realize that this is no fucking game.
The film was directed by Tim Story (Ride, think like a man, barber) from a script written by Tracy Oliver (Girls trip, Harlem) AND Dewayne Perkins (The Amber Ruffin Show, Brooklyn Nine-Nine). He is the protagonist Antoinette Robertson, Dewayne Perkins, Walls Sinqua, Grace Byers, XMay, Melvin Gregg, Jermaine Fowler, Yvonne OrjiAND Jay Pharaoh.
The project looks fun and offers a mix of horror movie elements like Saw, The cabin in the woodsAND He shouted.
