Brendan Fraser’s character in ‘The Whale’ caused quite a stir in the industry, for better or for worse. This has led many people to empathize with Charlie, the teacher and father of the family, and to repudiate all attempts at a moral at the end of the film. Now, Woody Harrelson has premiered a sketch on SNL to poke fun at the ‘The Mummy’ actor’s roe.

Last Saturday February 25, in the last Saturday Night Live program, Woody Harrelson did a sketch to make fun of Brendan Fraser ‘The whale’. In the segment you can see the actor from “The Hunger Games” in a character quite similar to Charlie, with impressive loot and makeup almost as impressive as the one in the movie A24.

The sketch is called ‘The hippopotamus'(The hippopotamus), a clear parody of ‘The whale’ OR ‘The whale’. For this little segment, Woody Harrelson played Keith, a 500-pound man: “I’m sorry. Just to be clear, the film is officially dead, so aren’t we going to do it?” the protagonist is an actor who made £400 for the character, a film that was cancelled.

“NO. The hippo will never see the light of day,” says the sketch director. “I have to say this is really a shame for me personally,” he says. Woody Harrelson parodies Brendan Fraser. “I gained just over 200 real pounds in six months – it’s a huge change in my lifestyle!”

‘The Hippo’ makes fun of ‘The Whale’ and Marvel

The sketch is quite brilliant and capitalizes on everything that has been commented on Darren Aronofksy’s new film, which hits theaters on February 9th. Later, it is revealed in the SNL segment that “The Hippo” had to be canceled due to some of the problems that “The Whale” went through as well. And finally, the sketch references Marvel.

Keith wanted to star in a new Marvel movie, but when he got fat for ‘The Hippo’, he claims that ‘that ship has sailed’ and the chance to debut in the MCU is gone. “I’m not exactly in X-Men shape right now,” Woody Harrelson joked.

The story of ‘The Whale’ follows Charlie, an online teacher and father of a teenager from whom he has been estranged for many years. After a tragedy, now the 300-kilogram man, who hasn’t left his apartment, wants to recover his relationship with his daughter, Ellie, played by Sadie Sink, of ‘Stranger Things’ fame.
