This was confirmed by the Board of Investors of Warner Bros new ‘Lord of the Rings’ movies are in the works. New Line Cinema and Warner Bros join forces with Embracer Group AB (holder of the rights to the saga) to bring Middle-earth back to the big screen twenty years after the end of the trilogy.

The annexation is not a simple thing. There are several companies and their delegations involved in the return of JRR Tolkien’s original story: Warner Bros and New Line Cinema on one side and Embracer Group AB, which includes Freemode and Middle-Earth Enterprises, on the other. While the process has been long, according to some executives, companies are excited to reprise this fantasy.
David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros, has been in charge of announcing this agreement which for him has a clear goal: to bring the big franchises to cinemas. Warner Bros. co-directors (provisional in principle) Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy also comment on the long-planned confirmation: “Twenty years ago New Line took an unprecedented leap of faith to bring you the incredible stories, characters and world of ‘The Lord of the Rings.’ The result is a landmark cinematic saga that has seen generations of fans . […] The opportunity to further invite fans into the cinematic world of Middle-earth is an honor.”De Luca and Abdy enthusiastically share.
On behalf of Embracer Group AB, Lee Guinchard (CEO of Freemode) also spoke, underlining the good synergy between companies: “Following our recent acquisition of Middle-Earth Enterprises, we are delighted to embark on this new collaborative journey to bring Tolkien’s incomparable world to the big screen in new and exciting ways.”says Guinchard and adds, “We understand how much these works are appreciated, working with our partners we intend to honor the past and look to the future, adhering to the highest level of quality and production”reveals his expectations of return.
All share the emotion and desire but no other data. Everything beyond the confirmation of the new films is unknown. We will have to be on the lookout for possible upcoming announcements that will reveal important issues such as: the cast, the technical team, the start date of filming or even which part of Tolkien’s world you will explore.
Peter Jackson is gone, for now

His allies and co-writers Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are also unconfirmed.
