Sony Pictures has released a trailer for the upcoming horror film The Pope’s Exorcistwhat stars Russell Crowe as chief exorcist of the Vatican. The character is based on a real priest named Father Gabriele Amorth, who worked for the Vatican and performed several exorcisms during his lifetime. The film is inspired by the real files of Father Gabriele Amorth, who wrote two memoirs, An exorcist tells his story AND An exorcist: other storieswhere he talked about his experiences battling Satan and demons.

This film follows Amorth as he investigates a terrifying possession of a young boy and ends up uncovering a centuries-old conspiracy that the Vatican has been desperately trying to keep under wraps. While the film is inspired by true events, there are many things that were obviously made up for the film. But it looks like a good horror movie that is sure to deliver some good scares!
The film was directed by Julius Avery (Son of a gun, OverlordAND Samaritan) and the cast also includes Franco Nero like the Pope, Laurel Marsden, Hawkins River, Pablo Raybould, Daniel Zovatto, Alex EssoeAND Ralph Ineson as the voice of the “Demon”.
The Pope’s Exorcist will be released in theaters on April 14, 2023.
