‘The Last of Us’ Explores Ellie’s Origin and Features Riley (Storm Reid) in Episode 7 Trailer

Chapter 6 of ‘The Last of Us’ ends on an unnerving cliffhanger, with Joel’s (Pedro Pascal) life hanging in the balance after collapsing from a serious injury. And we already know what happens when a series leaves the action hanging like this: Flashback Chapter! The seventh episode of the successful HBO fiction deviates from the main plot and takes us into the immediate past to reveal Ellie’s origins (Bella Ramsey), in a passage of his story, the title of which, ‘Left Behind’, will undoubtedly arouse great emotions among fans of the Naughty Dog video game.

Like every week after the episode aired, HBO released a preview of the next episode, which we will see on February 27 on HBO Max.

The title refers to the DLC (additional downloadable content), “The Last of Us: Left Behind”, which delves into Ellie’s story, where we are shown the three weeks before the start of the game, while she is looking for medicines to save Joel’s lifewho is on the verge of death after his confrontation with a group of survivors known as the Cannibals at the University of Colorado.

In the preview we see Ellie training at the FEDRA military school (where she met Marlene) and finally we meet one of the most iconic characters in the game, Riley (Storm Reid), who becomes her best friend. The episode will explore the intense friendship between the two before Ellie was bitten and later met Joel. And, if she sticks to the game, we may uncover key facts about Ellie’s mystery surrounding her immunity to Cordyceps, and possibly even her family background.

Who is Storm Reid?

Building on the narrative structure provided by the video game on which it is based, ‘The Last of Us’ continues to feature episodic settings and characters, and it is the turn of Riley, a very important character in Ellie’s story. The chosen one to interpret him is Storm Reid, an interpretive promise who has stood out in the cinema and on television for some years. Besides having small roles in movies like ’12 Years a Slave’ and ‘The Suicide Squad’, Reid has been seen in the Netflix mini-series ‘When They See Us’ and many will know her for her work in ‘Euphoria, another mainstay of HBO, in which she plays Gia, the sister of Zendaya’s character. Coinciding with her chapter of ‘The Last of Us’, the 19-year-old actress makes her theatrical debut ‘Missing’, new thriller from the creators of ‘Searching’which opens on February 24th.
