A lot of people who watched Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania they’re talking about the tone of the film and how it has Star Wars vibrations. And apparently, the director of the Ant-Man franchise Peyton Reedwho also directed two episodes of The Mandalorianwas inspired by Star Wars during the making of the film, and in a recent interview with CB, he addressed that influence, saying:
“Well, what was exciting for me is, again, it was a thrill to work on The Mandalorian obviously, as a lifelong Star Wars fan. And certainly, the environments that George Lucas kicked off many, many years ago they left an indelible mark for generations now”.
He went on to talk about the freedom the creative team had to build the Quantum Realm and how it was a little corner of the MCU that they were going to build the way they wanted:
“The cool thing about Quantummania is that the Ant-Man movies owned the Quantum Realm. I mean, they would go through it and use it for the timelines in Endgame. But it was ours. We were free to create anything. So I brought together this team of artists from all over the world, under the guidance of Will Htay, our production designer. And I just went through all of their art and talked to them and like, show me some of the wackiest creations you have. And maybe we can work on that and like, you know it can be anything we want it to be. We have to somehow understand what the internal logic and internal history of the Quantum Realm is. And what are the laws of physics? And what are these various areas like? And that was the funniest moment we had, because we owed nothing else that had appeared in the MCU. It was our little corner that we could carve out.”
The latest Marvel movie received mixed reviews from fans and while it’s not perfect and has some issues, it was also a fun movie with some silly and funny moments. If you watched the movie over the weekend, what do you think?
