You play a wise teacher trying to instill patience and courage in his young apprentice, this is how Liam Neeson made his “Star Wars” debut, teaming up with Ewan McGregor in the first film of the prequel trilogy directed and co-written by George Lucas. When that movie hit theaters in 1999, fans of the galactic saga couldn’t wait any longer: it had been 16 years since they had enjoyed a movie from their favorite franchise.

On the contrary, now the universe of “Star Wars” does not stop expanding, more on the small screen than on the big screen, with numerous proposals that deeply explore characters introduced in the aforementioned triad of films or in the Original Trilogy. This is the case, for example, of Boba Fett, a mythical bounty hunter who made his first appearance in “The Star Wars Christmas Special” or Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padawan of Neeson’s character who does nothing, will premiere his television drama on Disney+. ‘The Book of Boba Fett’, ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’, ‘The Mandalorian’, ‘Andor’ and in the near future ‘Ahsoka’ or ‘The Acolyte’ have the streaming platform House of Mouse more than an adventure provided set in a galaxy far, far away. And while many fans enjoy each new release, Neeson himself laments the saturation.

His feelings were clarified in an interview with “See What Happens Live!” (via Variety), late at night in which she once again faced the eternal question: Would you reprise the role of Qui-Gon Jinn in a possible spin-off of the saga? Usually his answer is always no, but in this case the motivation behind that decisive refusal has become much clearer. “I’m not interested. There are so many ‘Star Wars’ spin-offs. [Tanta nueva propuesta] it’s diluting the saga for me, it takes away the mystery and the magic in a weird way”. This, of course, is stated in relation to an entire series or film dedicated to his character, which has nothing to do with that cameo marked at the end of “Obi-Wan Kenobi”. Not only did he say yes to said appearance, but he was always more than accommodating. Will he end up losing his Jedi and agree to reprise the role in a not-so-brief appearance?

The next stop

‘Star Wars: The Bad Shipment’ is in the middle of its second season, premiering a new episode every Wednesday on Disney+, and we said goodbye to ‘Andor’ season 1 late last year. Expected total: none. Even in a very short time ‘The Mandalorian’ returns for its third season, with a new episode premiering every Wednesday starting March 1 on Disney+. Less than 15 days remain until we see Papa Din from star travel with his baby, a Grogu who promises to return with stellar adorableness. At least that’s what the new clip released by Lucasfilm suggests, an advance in which, obviously, Baby Yoda monopolizes all the limelight.
