Favreau was asked this in a recent meeting with Variety, and he replied:

“There’s always an opportunity when you have a set of characters and stories that people connect with, and you can cross media in different areas. Marvel does this quite effectively. It’s just a matter of where our time should be spent and what the public’s appetite is. With all these stories we’re telling, it’s definitely a full-time job just to continue with what we’re doing now. Television has a very different pace and schedule than cinema.

I feel the long form of a TV series fits the show and unless they have an epic story to tell, like in finishing the series or something, they should just stick with the show. Why mess with a good thing?

Favreau also spoke a bit about the upcoming series, Skeleton crewcreated by Marvel’s Spiderman director Jon Watts, which Favreau executive produces. Jude Law stars in the series, which is a Spielberg-esque coming-of-age story set in the same Mandalorian era. Skeleton crew will air this year, but unlike Boba Fett and Ahsoka, the characters will not appear for the first time The Mandalorian.

“Each storyteller brings their own personality to it. The groups they are working on [‘Skeleton Crew’] they’re led by Jon Watts, who I’ve collaborated with on all the ‘Spider-Man’ movies. This was a really fun moment and the great filmmakers that he’s engaged with brought their perspectives as well.”

The Mandalorian returns with the first episode of Season 3 on March 1 on Disney+, e Skeleton crew will arrive on the streamer later this year.
