Forbes has released its annual ranking of the entertainment industry’s highest-paid artists, and the 2022 list includes a couple of directors, many musicians, an actor and only a woman. Singer Taylor Swift, who also became an actress and director last year, placed ninth thanks to income from physical record sales (she released the album ‘Midnights’), digital downloads and licensing.
Also in the music section, Génesis and Sting have sold their music rights to Concord Music Group and Universal Music Group respectively, and thanks to this they crown the ranking in first and second place. The “Rolling Stones” are seventh, but their income came mainly from concerts. Animation is also very well paid because both the creators of ‘South Park’ (Trey Parker and Matt Stone) and those of ‘The Simpsons’ (James L. Brooks and Matt Groening) occupy the fourth and fifth places. Parker and Stone inked a deal with Paramount for $935 million spread over six years, which is why they also appeared on last year’s roster.

Also repeats the versatile Tyler Perry, who has an estimated fortune of a billion dollars. Perry is in third place and the other director on the list, James Cameron, is in eighth. The huge success of ‘Avatar: The Sense of Water’ and reruns of ‘Avatar’ and ‘Titanic’ in the same year, made Cameron even richer. The list is completed by Brad Pitt (who in 2022 sold his production company and released ‘Bullet Train’, ‘Babylon’ and ‘The Lost City’) and Bad Bunny, who made most of his income from his two tours: ‘l Último Tour Del World’ and ‘The World’s Hottest Tour’.
In total, these 10 artists grossed $1.35 billion, half what the Top 10 did last year, a list that included Jay-Z, Kanye “Ye” West and Bruce Springsteen.
