Satanic Hispanics Latino Horror Anthology for theatrical release by Dread, Iconic Events

Ahead of EFM, Dread, the dedicated horror label owned by distribution and financing company Epic Pictures, and Iconic Events announced plans to release an anthology film Satanic Hispanics on 800 screens in the US, Canada and Mexico in September.

The film will be directed in five segments by Alejandro Bruges (Juan of the dead), Gigi Saul Guerrero (Bingo hell), Mike Mendez (Big hole spider!), Demian Rugna (Afraid) and Eduardo Sanchez (The Blair Witch Project). Each director comes from a different corner of Latin America and delivers folklore, political and social commentary from Argentina, Cuba and Mexico, fused through a genre lens.

Satanic Hispanics had its world premiere at the Fantastic Fest in Austin in 2022, won the award for best director and played more than a dozen festivals.

“We are very grateful to have worked with such incredible talent Satanic Hispanicssaid Patrick Ewald, CEO/owner of Epic Pictures and Dread, who also produced. “With Iconic as our theatrical release partner, I can only hope that audiences enjoy watching the film as much as we enjoyed making it.”

The movie starts with The Traveler (Efren Ramírez, Napoleon’s dynamite), the sole survivor of a police raid on a house in El Paso, who talks about magic he saw, with each story revolving around one of the film’s short films.

“This film is something very special for us,” says Brugge, who in addition to directing also produced a role. “The first pure Latino horror anthology, created by some of the best horror directors from every corner of Latin America, focused on telling our stories. We couldn’t be happier to have Iconic Events here to unleash our Latino mayhem during Hispanic Heritage Month.
