John Leguizamo Tells How He Felt Like a Pawn When He Was Finally Sidelined in Favor of Michael Keaton to Play the Villain Spider Man: Coming Home.
The Romeo + Juliet The actor recently announced that he is in negotiations to star alongside Tom Holland in the Sony Pictures film Vulture. Leguizamo started the conversation after Michael Keaton’s deal to star in the superhero film fell through.
“I should have been the vulture,” Leguizamo said in an interview with ComicBook. “We negotiated and I wanted to play him and they said Michael Keaton wanted it back and they asked me if I wanted to give it up. I said, ‘Well, fine, I guess.’ They said, ‘No, we’re working with you again, we’re going to…’ That’s what happened there.
Leguizamo said Sony then offered him “something small,” which he ultimately turned down.

After news sources picked up on Leguizamo’s claim, the Encanto voice actor added that he felt like a “pawn” throughout the process.
“It’s true that I was used as a pawn to take out Keaton, but I should have said ‘no’ because we agreed on the terms! And I had a leg to sue, but I’m not arguing ,” Leguizamo shared on Instagram.
Keaton starred in 2017 Spider Man: Coming Home Stars as Adrian Toomes, the villain known as Vulture. He reprized the role of the antagonist in 2022 disease Post-credits scene that seems to make a bad team.
