Full list of Goya Awards 2023 winners

Once again we put on our best clothes to enjoy the most important night of Spanish cinema, the night of the Goya Awards, the gala that celebrates the best of our country’s film industry in a year in which the grape harvest was particularly memorable. Titles as diverse as ‘Alcarràs’, ‘As bestas’, ‘Cinco lobitos’, ‘La maternal’ and ‘Modelo 77’ are measured to get the highest award, the Goya for best film

The films of Rodrigo Sorogoyen, Alberto Rodríguez, Alauda Ruiz de Azúa and Carla Simón are the ones that start with the highest number of nominations, but they are not very far from ‘Cerdita’, Carlota Pereda’s debut film; nor ‘The crooked lines of God’, the new Oriol Paulo, both present in 6 categories. Curiously, it is the first time that all categories have five nominations (yes, even animation, thank goodness).

Anything can happen on an evening where the biggest winner is always cinema and where only two prizes are guaranteed: the Goya of Honor to Carlos Saura, master of our cinema with over 70 years of career; and the International Goya to Juliette Binoche for “his extraordinary career and his commitment to risky auteurs, embodied in a good number of unforgettable shows”.
