Following the confirmation of the ‘Fantastic 4’ reboot and Marvel’s announcement that Matt Shakman will finally direct, rumors about the film’s cast have been ramping up over time. In several interviews with media such as Collider or ComicBook, the director’s response has been firm: the cast of the film is not yet confirmed. When asked about the rumours, Shakman stated that: “There are a lot of them out there, there really are. It’s crazy. While I was living ‘Scarlet Witch and the Vision’, it’s captivating to see the level of engagement fans have with this filmBecause I’m a fan too, and I’ve been reading ‘Fantastic Four’ since I was a kid.”. Shakman understands and shares fans’ excitement about who will be cast, adding the following: “I love these characters and I love the opportunity we have to bring you to the MCU. I really want to get it right and I know everyone is equally excited and passionate about wanting to get it right, and I’m rooting for that. Although suspicions point to John Krasinski to play Mister Fantastic, following his appearance in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, The actor confirms he hasn’t spoken to Marvel about the film, but that he would like to play it. Therefore, all could be left in the hands of Shakman and Kevin Feige. It remains to be seen if Krasinski’s return will materialize or if, conversely, another actor will be cast to play Reed Richards in the new take on Marvel’s First Family.

Eyes on Comic-Con

Initially the premiere was supposed to be November 8, 2024, but in the end this date was postponed and we will be able to see the film in February 2025. According to Shakman’s confirmations to Collider, filming will begin in early 2024, so before the end of 2023 the cast should already be confirmed. Marvel Studios is known for, among other things, great character presentations in its films, and the return of its first family will be no different.
