The viral horror short that A24 and James Wan will turn into a horror film

The Internet has become a necessary tool for the daily lives of many people around the world, and from there spaces have been created that would otherwise be almost impossible to see. Well, from one of the most popular angles of the medium, he hailed a short horror film that has gone wildly viral and will now have its own horror film adaptation in the hands of A24 and director James Wan.

Through Deadline it has been confirmed that they will adapt to a horror film ‘The Backrooms’, a web series created by Kane Parsonsa young filmmaker and visual effects expert who made a big splash when he launched a series of videos on his YouTube channel where a filmmaker was trapped in some kind of building with endless and creepy rooms.

“The Backrooms” started out as an internet urban legend and now, the short horror film will be produced into a feature film by A24 and James Wan, the same director of such classics as “The Conjuring” and “Insidious”. In addition, Kane Parsons himself will be attached to direct the entire project, with Atomic Monster, Chernin Entertainment and 21 Laps as associate producers.

On his YouTube channel, you can find the entire series of ‘The Backrooms’ on the KanePixels channel. The most surprising thing about all this is that Kane Parsons is just a boy of just 17, who will start recording his film during the upcoming summer holidays, so it might be a less curious tape to watch.

What are Backrooms stories about?

An urban legend has begun to circulate in the 4Chan forums in the form of creepypasta on liminal spaces, or empty rooms that seem to lead nowhere, and of infinite extension that keep something disturbing for all to see. Images of places that “feel bad” began to be posted on these sites and quickly went viral on the Internet.

According to Parsons’ own description, ‘The Backrooms’ will be about “a young filmmaker’s fall into another dimension that leaves him wandering through a strangely yellow, empty, labyrinthine office space, which may or may not be home to otherworldly beings. ”.

There is currently no release date for the adaptation of this story, however, with the recordings of ‘The Backrooms’ upon us, it is expected to be a project that does not require much production time. But we’ll have to wait for more official details from James Wan or A24 itself.
