Broadway box office and ticket prices drop as productions continue Winter Sale;  ‘Phantom’ top earner again

Discounts, winter promotions, benefit services and the lack of a regular earner list that is now closed The piano lesson added to a slide in the Broadway box office for the week ending February 5, down about 9% from the previous week to $23,518,702.

Total attendance was down just 5% (to 195,520), with the lower average ticket price ($120.29 compared to $124.43 last week) hurting revenue. Nineteen of the week’s 22 shows experienced box office declines, although most shows filled more than 90% of their seats.

Top of the list again The Shadow of the Opera, after 35 years on Broadway, nearing its April 16 graduation. The final contenders fill the Majestic and took last week’s box office to $2,616,850, beating the runners-up Funny girl ($1,801,068) and Hamilton ($1,695,202) by a noticeable margin. (Hamiltonthe Wednesday matinee was a special show for students.)

Less than the 90% capacity mark is filled Some love it when it’s hot (72.7%, $741,939); Cooperation (76.6%, $286,472); And A beautiful sound, the Neil Diamond Musical (88.4%, $1,019,210). The latest production has just announced the release of a new block of tickets until January 7, 2024.

Opens later this week (February 9), photos from homestarring Nathan Lane, Danny Burstein and Zoë Wanamaker, took about 92% of Studio 54 seats and earned $432,278.

Between Riverside and Crazyfeaturing Common in his Broadway debut grossed $382,452, filled 95.7% of the seats at the Hayes, and also ran simulcast performances through February 12 (simulcast tickets are not included in these box office numbers).

In the season to date, Broadway has grossed $1,111,937,746 with a total admission of 8,574,121 for a load factor of approximately 87.6%.
