Since nobody said that the best medieval fantasy films have to be live-action, we have “How to Train Your Dragon”, an animated film trilogy that has been one of the most acclaimed in the genre in recent years. It’s about Hiccup, a young Viking who befriends a wounded dragon, and with whom he manages to show what he’s made of. Available on Netflix.

Eragon
Though it has now gained a cult following, ‘Eragon’ was a hotly contested film in 2006 when it was released. Stefen Fangmier was in charge of adapting this story about a boy who finds a blue stone, and since his family is going through a bad time, he decides to sell it, but at the moment he is about to change it, he realizes that it is actually an egg of dragon. The Lord of the Rings
It was nearly impossible to leave out “The Lord of the Rings,” a trilogy of fantasy films that have shaped the genre like none before. In this story directed by Peter Jackson we follow Frodo, a hobbit who is on a mission to destroy the most powerful object in the Midlands that could corrupt anyone, even the noblest of heart.
