EXCLUSIVE: In a competitive situation, Sony Pictures acquired feature film rights dwarvesbased on the short horror film by Dutch filmmakers Richard Raaphorst and Ruwan Heggelman.
The project is currently in the early stages of development with Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen and Dan Levine of 21 Laps producing alongside Raaphorst. Emily Feher oversees 21 laps. Heggelman will direct the film. Details of the plot are classified.
The short film had its North American premiere at Fantastic Fest 2022 and was also featured in the Frontières Platform 2022 Official Selection at the Marché du Film in Cannes. dwarves was written by Heggelman, Jasper ten Hoor and Richard Raaphorst and produced by Art Department Meester Raaphorst (Frankenstein’s Army).
Next up for 21 Laps is the 20th century adaptation of Stephen King The black manwhat they produce. The movie hits theaters in June.
Heggelman and Raaphorst are represented by 3 Arts Entertainment and Ziffren Brittenham. 21 Rounds is represented by WME.
