It’s been a pretty crazy week for DC fans! There’s a lot of excitement and a lot of questioning about what James Gunn AND Peter Safran they’re doing with DC Studios. This is just the beginning of their 8 to 10 year plan in which they will reboot DC heroes like Batman and Superman and introduce several new characters to the DC Cinematic Universe.
Gunn recently took to Twitter to give fans an idea of the specific print runs of comics that serve as inspiration for upcoming projects he and his team are developing. Superman, Batman, SupergirlAND Swamp thingas well as the big screen debut of the Wildstorm team, the Authority.
You can check out Gunn’s Tweet below:
We’ve talked a lot about Woman of Tomorrow, but these are more than the comics they inspire #DCStudios and the new #DCU in these early days. That doesn’t mean we’re adapting all of these comics, but that the feel, look, or tone of them are milestones for our team. Check! pic.twitter.com/34KrVPeEL5

The first thing Gunn mentions is Supergirl: the woman of tomorrow by Tom King. Then he goes on to share the cover of All-Star Superman: The Deluxe EditionBatman by Great Morrison Omnibus vol. 1, Absolute swamp thing by Alan Moore e The Omnibus Authority by Warren Ellis.
It’s funny because Gunn previously shared a photo of a cheese plate with Morrison’s Batman Omnibus volumes in the background. Fans thought he was teasing the kind of Batman movie he might be developing, and lo and behold! They were right!
Gunn makes sure to emphasize in his tweet that they won’t be adapting these comics, they’ll be using “the feel or the look or the tone” as they develop the projects.
