While I have been enjoying the recent Spiderman movies from Marvel and Sony, which I’m still a huge fan of Sam RaimiSpider-Man movies. They are still my favourites! I loved the stories they told; they were extremely well done movies with great action scenes; they had a wonderful and unique playful appeal; AND Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-Man was spectacular in the role!

It was so cool to see Maguire back in action as Spider-Man after all those years Spider-Man: There’s no way back home! The appearance of him, along with Andrew Garfield’s, definitely elevated the movie and made the fans happy.

During a recent screening of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of MadnessRaimi was asked to see Maguire as Spider-Man again, and his reaction was pretty delightful. He said:

“When I saw Tobey Maguire, my heart went out and I thought there was my old hero, my old friend.”

You can watch the clip of the director’s emotional response below. Maguire recently shared his reaction to being asked to finally come back after all those years, saying:

“When they initially called, I was like finally! [Laughs] I got the call and was immediately available to come and do this. Not without nerves – you know, ‘What will it be like and what will the experience be like?’ But getting to show up with beautiful, talented, creative people and play along? It’s just like, ‘Yes!’ It’s fun and exciting.

He also went on to say that he’s totally ready to do it again if asked:

“I love these movies and I love all the different series. If these guys called me up and said, ‘Would you show up tonight to hang out and mess around?’ or ‘Would you show up to do this movie or read a scene or do a Spider-Man thing?’ would be a ‘yes!’ Because why wouldn’t I want to do that?

I hope we haven’t seen the last of Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man! In fact, it would be great if he and director Sam Raimi teamed up again to tell another Spider-Man story!
